Donald Lewis Obituary, Death – On January 10, 2024, Don “Diesel” Lewis, 70, of Belgrade, unexpectedly departed this life and entered his own heavenly Happy Valley. To the late Doris and Don Lewis, he was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Don is left by his wife of thirty-one years, Helene; sons, Ryan and Morgan; daughter, Taylor; granddaughters, Lydia and Caroline; siblings, Donalee & Marcia; five loving family dogs; and a treasured life-size cardboard cutout of Joe Paterno.

Don is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many loved ones in Pennsylvania. Don studied at the University of Kutztown in Pennsylvania before entering the motor freight transportation sector. He worked for Portland Air Freight for the most of his career, where he was an exceptional employee and filled every available space in his office with mementos of his favorite items.

During his eighteen years as a member of the National Motor Freight Traffic Association, Don tried his hardest to assist other members and advance industry standards. Don has been involved in sharing his love of athletics with the community for the past thirty years. After serving as a coach, referee, umpire, and/or assistant manager for all three of his kids in different young leagues, he mostly blessed the baseball community as a trustworthy umpire.

He genuinely enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm for the game with the participants and their families, pushing them to be the best versions of themselves and to be receptive to new experiences. He would also occasionally quote the rule book and crack jokes and trivia at breaks. He wouldn’t imagine missing the season; maybe he will always be present in the hearts of those who participate and watch. Recall to “squish the bug.”
